Students who choose to participate in PCMS athletics are held to a high standard of behavior and academic performance. Student athletes are highly visible to the school community, so they are expected to represent PCMS with pride, passion, and professionalism.
Student athletes must abide by the following district-wide rules, per the Student Contract:
- Student athletes must remain polite, professional, confident, and humble in all situations.
- Student athletes are expected to compete relentlessly in the classroom and in their competitive arena.
- Student athletes must attend school and be on time to classes.
- Student athletes must earn above a 2.0 grade point average - the 2.0 grade point average is needed to “try-out” for the team and must be maintained to remain on the team.
- Student athletes must follow the CCPS Code of Student Conduct.
- Student athletes must stay away from criminal activities (on and off campus).
- Student athletes must not use or be around alcohol or drugs (on and off campus).
- Student athletes and their parents/guardians must complete and submit a signed extracurricular consent form.
Failure to meet the above expectations will be dealt with accordingly by school administration as per the Code of Student Conduct, and may result in disciplinary action by your head coach.
Documents
All documentation for athletics can be found on Home Campus. Any student interested in trying out for and participating in school-sponsored athletics will need to complete the sports physical application on Home Campus. Below is a video to help you navigate the Home Campus sports physical application. Please note: Under the "Files" section, you will be required to upload the EL2 form which consists of 4-5 pages of medical information completed by a parent/guardian and a medical professional. Additionally, there are four trainings your student athlete must view and upload a certificate for. To access the course, simply click on the name of the course and it will link to the training website. Students will learn about Heat Illness, Sportsmanship, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and Concussions. The application process cannot be completed unless students view these courses and upload their certificates of completion. Please be aware that the courses do take some time to complete, so encourage your student athlete to apply early. Lastly, please be aware that the school is not responsible for uploading physical forms to Home Campus. If your student athlete already has a physical form on file, you may contact the front office at 941-255-7460 to request a copy to upload to Home Campus.
